Overview

What is private duty nursing?

Private duty nursing is dedicated, one-on-one skilled nursing care delivered in your own home. Unlike a short visit from an agency, I am with your loved one for the time you need, applying clinical judgment, carrying out the care plan and noticing small changes before they become big ones.

Care is built around your family's rhythm. That might mean a few hours a day, overnight coverage, weekends or a combination, and it is provided by the same nurse every time, so your loved one is never faced with a stranger.

Common Questions

Questions about private duty nursing.

What is the difference between private duty nursing and a home health aide?

A registered nurse provides skilled clinical care, such as medication administration, equipment management and assessment. A home health aide assists with personal care, such as bathing, dressing and meals. Many families use the two together.

How many hours of care can I arrange?

As few or as many as your family needs, including overnight and weekend coverage. We tailor the schedule to your situation.

Will the same nurse come every time?

Yes. You work directly with me, so your loved one has one familiar nurse who knows their routine and history.

Can private duty nursing be combined with care management?

Yes. Many families choose both, so the nurse providing hands-on care also coordinates the doctors, prescriptions and appointments.
